A 55-year-old woman from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at SKIMS, Srinagar on Saturday, taking J&K’s deaths toll to 21.
Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the women was on the ventilator support since she was admitted at the institute.
“She was on the ventilator support for a long time, had sepsis, was under a shock and admitted as COVID-19 patient,” he said.
With the woman's death, the death toll due to coronavirus in J&K has soared to 21 that include 19 from Kashmir and two from Jammu division.
Kashmir valley reported the first death due to the virus on March 26, when a man from Sopore died after testing positive.
According to the government, Srinagar has reported six deaths, followed by Baramulla and Anantnag four each, Budgam and Kulgam two each, and Bandipora, Kathua and Jammu one each.
