Al-Badr militant killed in Tral gunfight

CRPF's ASI killed in Budgam militant attack

 A militant of Al-Badr outfit was killed in a gunfight with the forces in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday.
In a separate incident, an assistant sub-inspector of paramilitary CRPF was killed in a militant attack in central Kashmir's Budgam district.
A senior Police official said that an anti-militancy operation was launched at Machama area of Tral after intelligence inputs confirmed the presence of a militant there.
He said during the search operation, the presence of the militant got ascertained when he fired at the forces who were zeroing in on the target location.
The forces retaliated, triggering a in which one militant was killed, a Police officer said.
Police said arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the gunfight while there was no collateral damage.
Before the start of the gunfight the militant was asked to surrender but he did not lay down arms, Police said.
A Police spokesman said the killed militant was identified as Irfan-ul-Haq Dar of Gadikhal, Awantipora, who was associated with Al-Badr outfit.
Last year, Dar was arrested by the Police in a grenade-lobbing case on Police Station Awantipora for which a case vide FIR No 54/2019 under relevant sections of law and 7/27 A Act stands registered at the police station. Subsequently, he was sent to Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu.
Police said Dar was released from the jail in April this year, and was secretly involved in militant activities including Al-Badr related recruitment in Awantipora and Tral areas.
"He was an important motivator and influenced young minds for joining militant ranks in Awantipora and Tral areas," the spokesman said.
The body of the militant would be buried at Handwara after conducting medico-legal formalities.
His family would be allowed to participate in his last rites, Police said.
Meanwhile, an assistant sub-inspector of CRPF was killed and his rifle snatched after militants fired at him in Keisarmulla area of Chadoora in central Kashmir's Budgam district.
A senior Police officer said militants attacked 117 Bn of CRPF party in Keisarmulla, injuring an ASI of CRPF.
The injured CRPF man was identified as N U Badole.
He was evacuated to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Before fleeing from the spot, the militants also snatched an AK-47 rifle and a magazine from the ASI.
Following the attack, the area was placed under cordon to nab the attackers.
