All Jammu and Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association (AJKGPA) met Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Department (HMED) Dr. M. K Bhandari at Civil Secretariat Jammu recently to draw his attention to their demands.
The delegation led by State President AJKGPA, Mehraj-ud-Din, put forth various demands faced by the pharmacist cadre. The demands include: Stagnation of junior pharmacists for upgradation / promotion left out during reorganisations of pharmacists in 2007, to provide technical grade in favour of pharmacists on the analogy of Government Medical Colleges of Srinagar and Jammu and associated hospitals, upgradations, creations of posts of block and district pharmacy officer, Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of pharmacist cadre of Kashmir division should be conducted on priority basis.
Bhandari passed directions for the next meeting with the delegation within next 15 days and assured that their genuine demands will be looked into and considered at the earliest.
While appealing Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sheikh Mehraj-ud Din urged DHSK to conduct DPC of pharmacists at the earliest for “better health facilities in rural belts and also to reduce the patient pressure for tertiary hospitals by which pending stagnation of junior pharmacist will get resolved to the same extent”. Additional Secretary HMED, State President Jammu Division, Sushil Sudhan, others leaders from Jammu and Kashmir were also present in the meeting.
