17,041 people under surveillance in JK
Seven more persons tested positive in Kashmir on Wednesday, taking the number of confirmed cases to 62 in Jammu Kashmir while 17,041 people are under surveillance.
Two samples tested positive at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar that includes one sample taken from GMC Baramulla and a resident from Srinagar.
Five samples tested positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.
Dr S Muhammad Salim Khan, Nodal Officer for coronavirus for GMC Srinagar said the five include three referred from Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital and two cases from District Hospital Pulwama.
“They have been admitted in the isolation ward,” said a doctor at JLNM Hospital. "A total of nine positive cases are in the isolation ward.
As per the Jammu Kashmir government, a total of 17,041 persons in contact with suspect cases have been put under surveillance.
“A total of 10,355 are in home quarantine, 52 in hospital isolation, 516 in hospital quarantine, 3961 in home surveillance while 2157 have completed 28 days of surveillance,” the government said.
A total of 977 samples have been sent for testing in JK of which 911 are negative and 62 samples are positive, while reports of four patients are awaited.
With seven new cases on Wednesday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has soared to 62 in Jammu Kashmir.
The figures include 50 from Kashmir valley.
