4 new cases in Kashmir, 1 in Jammu; JK tally rises to 75

Five more persons including four from Kashmir — all contacts of the already positive cases - and one in Jammu, tested positive on Friday, taking the number of confirmed cases in Jammu Kashmir to 75 .
Three samples tested positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar.
“One patient is from Eidgah, Srinagar. The case has contact with an already positive case. He has been isolated,” said a doctor at SKIMS.
The samples of two other positive cases from Uri were taken from the Government Medical College, Baramulla.
They also have a history of close contact with the positive cases.
SDM Uri, Reyaz Ahmad said the area had been declared a 'red zone' adding that those people who had contact with the positive cases had been asked to go for screening.
One sample was detected positive at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.
He is from Chattabal, Srinagar, an area declared 'red zone' by the government.
“He had come to SMHS hospital on Thursday at the respiratory clinic where he was suspected of having coronavirus symptoms,” said a doctor at the Chest Disease Hospital.
On Friday, the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) at the CD Hospital tested 24 samples of which the other 23 were negative.
“Today, we also collected 45 more samples that have been sent for testing and their results are awaited,” he said.
The fifth case is from Jammu division and his contact tracing has been started.
Of the 75 positive cases, 54 cases are from Kashmir division.
A doctor at CD hospital said two patients who had coronavirus symptoms but were cured now has been discharged from the hospital while the positive patients were doing well.
“All positive cases are doing well. Two patients have been discharged and put under quarantine in their respective districts,” he said.
