Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the forces in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday.
A senior Police officer said a cordon and search operation was launched by the forces after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the Arrah area of the district.
He said the hiding militants fired at the forces during the search operation which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight
In the initial stage of gunfight a militant was killed while three forces personnel including a JCO were injured, the officer said.
The identification and affiliation of the killed militants is yet to be ascertained, he said.
The cordon in the area was intact while searches continued till evening, the officer said.
With the killing of two more militants, the militant death toll this year has reached 121.
