Srinagar, Nov. 24: The mayor of Srinagar city brushed serious allegations against the National Conference on Thursday, claiming that they are in a secret alliance with the BJP.
Addressing a press conference at his private office near Linz restaurant at Sher-e-Kashmir Park, the mayor of the city, Junaid Azim Mattu, said the regional party is in a secret alliance with the BJP and they are making fools of the common people.
"The mayor stated that some members of the NC party wanted him to sign illegal documents and that if the documents were not signed by him, he was being defamed."
"Our differences, according to them (NC), will end only if I sign the documents and permit the illegal constructions and other activities," Mattu said.
The mayor further said the government has stated that the family rule will be put to an end, but NC leaders involved in bribery are being openly shielded.
"If the NC has a secret alliance with the BJP, why don't they make an open announcement about it?" "If NC is the way for change in Kashmir, then we will bid adieu to politics," he said.
The mayor was flanked by Shiekh Imran, former deputy mayor of Srinagar city, Shaffat Ahmad, and several others.
"Sitting together despite our differences means we aren't gaining anything and are only here for the benefit of the people, putting our differences aside for the sake of our people," said Shiekh Imran, a former Deputy Mayor.
While lashing out at the NC, the mayor said, "They had proof against some NC leaders that, if made public, they wouldn’t be able to contest elections." "Those who will see the proofs won’t even see their houses."
We have proposed a macadamisation process worth 117 crores, but only 40 crores were utilized, and it was not possible to cover the entire city's inner links.

"There are some areas where the road gets macadamized every three years, but at the same time, some areas never receive the macadamisation, and our priority would be neglected areas," the mayor said while replying to a query.

Those who call us blackmailers should know that the message is clear: they will not tolerate illegal practices in the corporation. A few months ago, two people came to the office with screenshots of 3 lakh rupees transferred to the deputy mayor's account, and the issue was brought to the attention of the SMC commissioner and Srinagar police.

He claimed that after the proper investigation, the SHO concerned informed the government that the concerned Deputy Mayor had taken an amount of Rs. 3 lakh as a bribe from the duo, and the report was submitted to them. It has been a long time since any action has been taken against the NC leader.
Those who are taking bribes of 1,500 are getting trapped and investigated; however, at the same time, the NC leader is going unnoticed by the concerned authorities.

During the ACB investigation, an amount of Rs. 1.05 crore was found in his salary account, and nobody asked him where he got this money, despite knowing the man has taken huge bribes from the people.
