Srinagar, July 29: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) today conducted raids at several places in Poonch district in connection with a narco-terrorism case
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that raids were conducted at four places in Mandi Tehsil of the frontier district in connection with a Narco Terror case that relates to a notorious drug peddler RafiqLala, of Danna Doyiyan area of Sathra who was arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) earlier this year.
“The SIA had taken him for remand on July 1 for questioning over his alleged links across the border. He is the primary accused in the case and in March this year we recovered 7kg heroin, nearly ₹2 crore and some arms and ammunition from his house near Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch,’’ he said.
He said accused Lala was in touch with Punjab-based narcotics smugglers and it is also being investigated. It is being probed where he was getting these drugs smuggled in the J&K. All angles will be investigated, he said.
The police officer said during the searches, some electronic gadgets including mobile phones, electronic storage devices, SIM cards, documents, bank documents etc relevant to the ongoing investigation have been seized during these searches and preliminary questioning provided very pertinent leads in the case.
