Tell us something about yourself
Well, I was always inclined towards fashion and putting things together. I'm a management student, have done MBA in finance and after that, I qualified national eligibility test (NET) and then made a complete U-turn to pursue a career in fashion, something I had never anticipated.
How did you get this business idea
I remember, it was my viva at University and there was a panel of professors and deans and one of them asked me where do you see yourself in next ten years, and my prompt response was "as a designer." I still don't know why I answered like that.
Why did you choose this business only
I have always had an interest in fashion. For me creating each garment is a journey. It is a story. I focus more on exclusivity and quality rather than quantity. My approach is minimalistic -- it's all about real and clean pieces.
Did you experience any problem while starting your business
I did not receive any formal education in fashion and this enabled me to start from raw space. It came along with a set of challenges but I was learning new things every day. And, yes there are taboos attached to a stylist in Kashmir. Also, I had no contacts in this field but every day I explored things and I landed up here and now it's much stronger version of me.
What products do you offer
My work includes ethnic, Indo western, western and bridal.
What do you do for advertising
I use social media for promotion.
What is your USP
Well, my USP is my quality, not quantity for sure. The rule is the luxury must be comfortable, otherwise, it's not luxury.
Do you have any employee
Yes, we have a team of 25 people who work in coordination to achieve one mission that is customer satisfaction.
Your advice for startups
It's empowering to be an entrepreneur. My biggest advice would be to start doing what you dream of. Just follow your heart and don't do it because someone else is doing it. Just follow your heart and the rest everything will fall in place.
