'My Town, My Pride in B’la': Unique initiative to strengthen governance in J&K: Raghav Langer

Baramulla, Dec 06: The Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Dr Raghav Langer Tuesday said that ‘My Town My Pride’ is aimed to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time.
"The purpose behind this unique initiative is to strengthen the roots of good governance in Jammu and Kashmir. It will empower the common people besides giving direction to a new governance model in the entire Jammu and Kashmir," Dr. Langar said while addressing local residents and officials here at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
He said that 'My Town, My Pride' has seven action plans for which the responsibility of every officer is to ensure integrated development concepts and its execution.
On the culmination of the Government's ambitious ‘My Town My Pride Programme, Dr. Langar attended a series of events at Baramulla.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Sehrish Asgar briefed the visiting officer about the initiatives being taken by the departments in saturating the deliverables in the district.
She also apprised the visiting officer that “My Town My Pride” has witnessed multifarious activities in the district amid overwhelming public participation.
On the occasion, the PRIs and other prominent stakeholders also highlighted their grievances pertaining to the development of Baramulla town.
Dr Raghav Langer gave a patient hearing to all the grievances and demands that were put forth by PRIs and concerned stakeholders.
On the second day of My Town My Pride, the visiting officer Dr Raghav Langer paid a visit to Khawaja Bagh Baramulla where he carried out several developmental activities.
Dr. Raghav who was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, handed over keys to the beneficiary for construction of a new house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and interacted with the family members.
The visiting officer and DC Baramulla Dr. Sehrish inaugurated Open Air Gym at Sangri Baramulla and felicitated winning teams of Sports activities on 2nd day of 'MyTown, MyPride'
Dr Raghav Langer also visited Transit Accommodation Camp at Khawaja Bagh Baramulla where he took first hand appraisal of its construction work.
"Several concrete measures have been taken in order to ensure the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants so that they live in their homeland with peace and harmony," he added.
Dr Raghav Langer in presence of President Municipal Council Baramulla Touseef Raina inaugurated Children's Park at Sangri Colony Baramulla.
He also interacted with the PRIs who put forth their grievances and developmental aspirations.
Pattan: In Pattan town of Baramulla, several activities were held under MTMP 2.0 including cultural programs, sports activities, anti-encroachment drives besides laying of foundation stone for a shopping complex.


SOPORE: In Sopore town, people participated in numbers and discussed their issues with the visiting officers to seek redressal of the issues on a war footing basis.
President MC Sopore Masarat Kar told Rising Kashmir that several discussions were held and a series of issues were discussed including CAPEX budget, potential of tourism in Sopore, beautification of the town.
"The visiting officers visited main chowk, khushal pora, Maharajpora and discussed issues related to drinking water, R&B, indoor stadium, beautification of town and potential of tourism in Sopore," Masarat added.
