Srinagar, Sep 26: The three-day Road Safety Capacity Building Course on the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, sponsored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Friday concluded at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Rajbagh, Srinagar. Organised by the Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD), New Delhi, the workshop brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from MoRTH, the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department, and Traffic Police officials, to strengthen road safety practices in the region. According to a statement issued here, the training is part of a sustained initiative addressing critical road safety challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, including traffic congestion, frequent accidents, underage and reckless driving, negligent behaviour, and enforcement of traffic regulations. Participants engaged in interactive sessions covering the nuances of the Motor Vehicles Act, query resolution, and practical strategies for implementation. Officers commended the programme for its relevance and called for similar initiatives across the Union Territory. During the valediction ceremony, organisers felicitated resource persons and distinguished participants for their contributions to discussions and knowledge-sharing. The event highlights AITD’s ongoing role in MoRTH’s capacity-building programmes, which have trained over 3,000 road safety practitioners nationwide to promote safer transport systems.
