Ministry of Defence signs MoU with MHA through JK UT Govt for transfer of defence land

In a significant step towards promoting tourism and development in the region, the Ministry of Defence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Government of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir for the transfer of 139.04 acres of Defence land situated at Tattoo ground. The land will be handed over within 120 days to the Ministry of Home Affairs for undertaking various developmental activities.
The MoU signing ceremony, presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, marked a momentous occasion for the UT's major tourism initiatives. The Local Military Authority of Tattoo Ground Garrison and Defence Estate Officer Kashmir Circle Srinagar represented the Ministry of Defence during the event.
Expressing his gratitude towards the Army for their cooperation, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed the administration and security forces' dedication to the welfare of the people. He assured that honest and dedicated efforts would be made to fulfill all the conditions of the MoU and develop tourism and related activities at Tattoo ground, making it an attractive destination for tourists visiting the Kashmir valley.
During the ceremony, Lt Governor Sinha also discussed the 'MeraMatiMeraDesh' campaign with senior Army officers, emphasizing the importance of honoring the martyrs. Additionally, preparations for Independence Day events were on the agenda.
Among others present on the occasion included Lt General Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps; Dr.Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Vijay Kumar, ADGP Kashmir; and Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, along with senior officers of the Army and UT Administration.
