Ganderbal, Dec 19: Razia Mushtaq, a female gym owner, has broken all the chains of stereotypes in the valley with her career choice.
The 30-year-old from the Kangan area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district runs a gym with her brothers, Abrar and Asrar. The siblings are mobilising women towards a healthy lifestyle.
Razia has received preliminary education from Sheikh Ul Alam Public School Kangan, passed the 12th class at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kangan and graduated in Law from Kashmir University. She left her profession and started a Unisex gym ‘313 Fitness Club’ at Kangan.
“I opened this gym so that girls also pay attention to their health,” Razia told Rising Kashmir.
She said the gym has modern technology equipment. “Two gym centres are already here, but they do not have the latest technology,” she said.
Razia said her brothers have supported her in every field of life. “They are my real strength. The love and cooperation of parents and brothers gave me the courage to move forward with confidence,” she remarked.
Stressing that exercise keeps one fit and protects from many diseases, Razia said, “I am feeling happy to have taken such a step for women who are facing health disorders, obesity and depression issues. I keep motivating more and more women to achieve good health and brain positivity.”
Kangan is a remote village of Ganderbal where people are mainly engaged in agriculture and other activities of manual labour. With her efforts, the gym has gained popularity across the area.
Razia has a message: “Choose your career wisely, and have full faith in God and yourself.”
