Hailing from Ganderbal district, he currently works as a General Line teacher in Government Higher Secondary School Batwina.

Dr Zakir completed his basic schooling in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. After that, he completed his graduation in Tourism and Travel Management from Amar Singh College and his Masters from IGNOU. He was appointed as a General Line teacher in 2009.

In March this year, he received the Asian Education Award for his excellence in education and for transforming students' lives at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr Zakir also introduced digital learning tools and developed personalized programs for students.

“I started YouTube lectures and videos for the students as these are accessible for all students irrespective of the locations. Initially, I did not know how to record lectures but once I started, I acquired many skills throughout the process,” he said.

The teacher is a motivational speaker, certified master life coach, author and international certified career coach. He has a studio at home where he prepares video lectures for students.

Dr Zakir is author of two books which include the book on Modern History of India for JKPSC CSE and the recently released book The Secret of Goal Setting To Success which is available on Amazon and Flipkart.

The Secret of Goal Setting To Success, an e-book, is a personal development book and is helpful to the age group of 14 to onwards and will help them in achieving their goal as this book is very practical in nature and based on personal experience of almost 13 years.

Similarly, Modern History of India book will make you follow through and achieve your Goal. It will help you find clarity about what you really want in life and then create an actionable plan to achieve it.

This book caters to the demand of the Examination Conducted by the JKPSC for civil service. This book has been designed keeping in view the needs of the aspirants of JKPSC CSE and other competitive examinations. He has prepared this book in view of the examination needs of the aspirants for various competitive examinations.

In addition to it, the 35-year-old teacher has been given an Honorary Doctorate, which has been presented to him by the World Peace Institute of United Nations Branch Delhi.

Besides, Dr Zakir is also active on various social media platforms and shares his lectures for students in video content on his YouTube channel. He has transformed thousands of lives of students and aspirants preparing for a competitive examination to achieve their goals.

“It is not the years you give to your profession; what you give is your ideas, your belief and your passion for doing something extraordinary,” he said.

Besides that he is also preparing students for many competitive examinations of JKPSC and JKSSB. “I guide them how to start their preparation and how to qualify the examination. I am connected with many local students preparing for several examinations,” he said.

“I have my own strategy. We should not listen to negativity but focus on positive things. A student has many issues from family and social pressures to the classroom. I have counselled many students and given them the right track. We have to transform the lives of students. A teacher has to check the mind of students and see what they want to do,” he said.

Dr Zakir said when he was a student, he also had faced many issues in counselling and there was no one who could have counselled and guided him properly.

“But I don’t want my students to face counseling issues. I counsel my students properly to make them successful in their goals and it is my core aim. I don’t want them to face the situations which I had to face when I was a student,” he said.

“Students often face mental stress due to various pressures on them. Teachers should read the psychology of students and guide them accordingly. Once they know their students well they will be able to see what students want. Teachers have to be friendly with students and be a solution provider. A teacher is not a teacher but a felicitator,” he said.

Dr Zakir said whenever he meets students who need or seek help, he first tries to understand their past, issues and situations, only then he gives them suggestions.

“I try to analyse their problems. I have a profile of students in my mind. Then accordingly I work on what I should do for such a student so that they move ahead,” he said.

Talking about the role and importance of counselling, he said for students counselling is very important in today’s competitive world.

“First thing we as teachers can do is career counselling and secondly, we can read their psychology and mind set and motivate them to choose options,” he said.

Dr Zakir said some students are talented and it is better to help them and turn their passion into a profession which makes their life independent from a very early age.

The teacher is also a member of State Focus Group on National Curriculum Framework (Knowledge of India) from Jammu and Kashmir working on position papers for the National Education Policy (NEP) 2022.
