Baramulla, Dec 18: Continuing with its clean and green Baramulla town campaign, the Municipal Council Baramulla undertook a massive cleanliness drive on the banks of Jhelum, on Sunday.
An official said that cleaning of the river banks was done by sweeping the banks of the Jhelum at various points in Baramulla town by the teams of Municipal Council and the garbage was disposed off through garbage collection vehicles.
He said that under the cleanliness campaign, a special drive is being run by the Municipal council through an awareness programme and cleanliness drive in and around the town.
President Municipal Council Baramulla, Touseef Raina told Rising Kashmir that the teams of Municipal Council Baramulla have attempted to raise awareness of the value of cleanliness in the town for several months.
"Cleanliness is not a project that lasts for a week or a fortnight; it is a continual effort," he added.
Touseef further appealed to the locals not to throw garbage near river banks.
"Please cooperate with Municipal Council Baramulla and avail the hopper service for the waste collection. It is our collective responsibility to ensure a clean and green Baramulla town," Touseef further added.
