Jammu, Jan 04: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has strongly condemned police lathi charge on the protesting Rehbar-e-Khel teachers in Jammu.
In a statement issued to Rising Kashmir, Manjit Singh expressed anguish against the unnecessary police lathicharge on the peaceful protesters who were demanding their regularization, enhancement of wages and release of pending wages.
“Rehbar-e-Khel have been serving in different institutions and their services should be recognised by the government. Their demands are genuine and the treatment with them by the police needs strongest condemnation,” he said in the statement.
He further stated that it is a human issue and those who are serving as Rehbar-e-Khel have crossed the age limit and are rethinking about their future. “The Govt should frame a policy for the regularization on humanitarian ground and accordingly regularise all of them.”
Singh said they are working on a very small amount which is insufficient to even ensure days meal for their families. “The Govt should also enhance their monthly wages so that they can live a respectable lie and provide better education to their children.”
Meanwhile, Apni Trade Union J&K President Ajaz Kazmi also raised concern over the delaying tactics of the Govt to regularize them.
“Around 61000 daily wagers have been working in various Govt departments but the Govt has yet to take a final call on their regularization. The bureaucracy is misleading the LG with regard to the daily wagers and they have become a major obstacle to regularizing them,” Kazmi added.
