Jammu, Oct 01: BJP Spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania on Sunday announced that the construction of a 138-metre span double-lane motorable bridge on Majalta link road over Gambhir Nallah, costing rupees 16.50 crores, will begin soon.
Addressing a large gathering of party cadres at Neelam Palace, Manwal, Pathania also congratulated the people of Majalta on the approval of an extra academic block for PHC Majalta, costing Rs 4.50 crore. He informed the public that proposals for the double-lane bridge and hospital project were framed in 2015-16 and 2018-19, respectively.
The BJP spokesperson highlighted the historical significance of Manwal and argued that it should be properly developed and projected. He stated that Manwal was the largest developed township of North India during the early medieval period, serving as the capital of Duggar Pradesh. “If ASI and authorities in J&K had developed Manwal appropriately, it could have been a world-famous destination for studying stone masonry, idol sculpture, and temple-building of the early medieval period,” he said.
Pathania urged ASI to develop Manwal as a state-of-the-art destination for tourists across the globe, along the lines of the National Museum in New Delhi and the Red Fort Archaeological Museum. He also highlighted the need for ASI to display durable artefacts and excavated idols and articles in a state-of-the-art museum.
He criticised the erratic electricity bills issued by the PDD authorities, which have caused inconvenience to the general public. He called upon the authorities to rectify wrongly issued billing and cap the cost of electricity bills. Pathania also demanded the fair distribution of grains under the public distribution system at fair-price shops.
Those who were present included Capt Gopal Singh Mankotia (Mandal Pardhan),  Mohan Lal Sharma (Mandal Pardhan), Shiv Ram, Baldev Singh Mankotia, Anil Sharma, Ved Pal (Mandal  General Secretaries), Kuldip Singh,  Ramesh Chander Gupta, Meena Rani, Anku Verma,  Ashok Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Devi Dass, Kartar Chand, Subash Verma, Surinder Mankotia, Nimrata Bali, Mohinder Sharma, Onkar Singh, Bikram Singh, Rattan Chand, Madan Lal and a wide galaxy of local leaders.
