Magam residents aghast over non-availability of public convenience

Budgam, June11: Residents of central Kashmir’s Magam town has expressed resentment as Municipal Community (MC) Magam has failed to reopen public convenience for the general public.
The locals from the Magam main town told Rising Kashmir that the MC Magam had dismantled the old public convenience in the main town in the year 2021 and constructed the new public convenience public in the area which is yet to be thrown open.
Mehmooda Bano, a resident of the Magam vicinity said that due to the non-availability of public convenience in the main market, the women are facing a lot of problems.
"There are women from different villages who come to the market to buy things, so this should be made functional as soon as possible," Bano said.
Irshad Ahmad Para, Sumo driver from the Shalimar Taxi Stand Magam said that after the MC Magam had constructed a new public convenience for the general public but for unknown reasons it has not been thrown open yet.
Detailing about the delay in its opening, Ghulam Mustafa Mir, Chairman of the Municipal Committee Magam Town said that the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department has not handed over the public convenience to the Municipal Committee yet.
"Once the R&B department will hand over this public convenience to the MC Magam, we will make it functional," Mir said.
An official from the R&B department sub division Magam said that the department is going to handover the public convenience to the Municipal Committee Magam within few days.
