Srinagar, Nov 11: The Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) in its recent Building Operating Controlling Authority(BOCA) meeting has approved 82 cases of building permission. This permission had been withheld for several months. The BOCA member had also rejected four permissions and deferred two more, given the incomplete process.
An official of LC&MA told Rising Kashmir that they held the 123rd BOCA meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Vice Chairman, J&K LCMA, at Dockyard; Nishat; NFR-Srinagar; and other members of the Building Permission Authority.
The officer said that this meeting was held while taking all sister departments on board. Without the presence of the entire concerned departments, no permission is being issued.

"During the meeting, the VC directed the official to provide building permission in a timely bound manner to avoid the illegal raise of constriction in Srinagar city. He also directed the department's enforcement wing to pace up its efforts to combat illegal construction."

Those whose permissions were rejected or deferred have alleged that they are unable to understand why their permission was rejected.

"I don't understand why my permission was delayed, as I followed all of the department's procedures."He stated that he is unable to determine the source of the problem, according to Nazir Ahmad of Batpora.

He stated that the online website isn’t showing where the problems are, and since this online process was introduced, they are unable to understand what to do.

The website isn’t showing the current status of the building permit nor the fee structure, which has left the common man in distress.

There should be a clear fee structure, so everyone would know about it; also, the website should show which department has raised the query. The aim of this online service was to end human intervention, but there seems to be no end to it.
