Srinagar, Apr 26: A career counselling-cum-guidance session was organised by Centre for Career Planning and Counselling, University of Kashmir.
Experts from M/S Bitwise Private Limited, Pune, which included Mr Tanmoy P. Adak, Mr Amir Jan and Mr Manoj offered counselling and guidance to students of computer science on how to prepare and face corporate interviews, and what additional skill-sets required to sharpen their curricular credentials. They also educated students on how to clear online tests held by various companies during their campus recruitment drives.

Students from main campus, north and south campuses of KU, NIT Srinagar and Central University of Kashmir participated in the counselling session.

Director CCPC, Prof Geer Mohammad Ishaq said the overall low selection rate of students despite large number of vacancies available in various companies prompted the interactive session wherein industry representatives addressed issues, challenges and concerns faced by students in passing the online tests and facing the interviews.

The Centre is in touch with companies like Tata Strive (Google Scholarship Certification Programme), Tata Consultancy Services and Mission Youth J&K for conducting such skill enhancement and awareness programmes for engineering and non-engineering students of the university in future, he said.

“A mega awareness-cum-orientation campaign will be launched soon by CCPC for skill upgradation and capacity building of students,” he said.

The counselling session was also attended by career counsellors and placement officers from computer science departments of main and satellite campuses of the University.
