Qazigund (Kulgam), May 16: A 25-year-old Kashmiri youth died in Saudi Arabia while the family of the deceased have alleged that he was killed by his co-worker.
The family has appealed to the Saudi government to punish the perpetrator.
According to the family, Zakir Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a native of Y.K Pora Kulgam, was allegedly killed by a co-worker in Saudi Arabia.
“We learned about the incident from Zakir’s flatmate. He had been working as a JCB operator in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for six months when he was killed by a co-worker. They had a scuffle previously and he was constantly harassing Zakir,” recalls his cousin Subzar Ahmad, adding that an Assam youngster was his co-worker.
"The family had sent their son to make a living after lending money for a visa. They have lost the breadwinner, he said.
“On last Friday, Zakir spoke with his mother and informed her about the scuffle with Assam youth and that he isn't feeling well there,” his cousin stated.
"He said that Zakir was working the day before when he was struck by a JCB operator- an Assam youngster. He died instantly," he said.
He said, police in Saudi Arabia have taken charge of the body and are probing the incident.
