LG Sinha lauds his selection for making it to the final squad

Srinagar, Mar 22: Bringing laurels to the valley in sports Danish Farooq from Srinagar Kashmir who received the maiden call for his selection in the Indian National football team made inclusion in the final squad for Bahrain friendlies football matches.
With his selection in the National football team of India, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated Danish Farooq for getting selected and on his inclusion in the final squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus.
While taking to social media microblogging twitter the LG J&K Manoj Sinha also congratulated Danish Farooq for his selection in the Indian National football team.
“Congratulations to Danish Farooq on his selection in National Football Team for the upcoming international friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus. His hard work, passion, and determination will inspire many more J&K’s Youth. My best wishes to him,” LG tweeted.
Earlier, Danish was included in the 38 member India camp for the Bahrain tour, later he secured the place in the final 25-member team announced by Indian football team Head Coach Igor Stimac.
As per the schedule, the Indian team is planning to play Bahrain on March 23, and Belarus on March 26.
Notably, along with Danish, seven other players also received the maiden call for their selection in the team.
In a statement issued by the AIFF, Head Coach Igor Stimac said, “We are playing Bahrain and Belarus, and they are better-ranked sides than us. But whatever the rankings are, you need to do it on the pitch. Bahrain will show us where we stand. We will give chances to some young players who have played well in the Hero ISL this season to see how much we can use them for the qualifiers in June”.
Ahead of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023, these matches are a part of the team’s preparation for the final round of the AFC, while the qualifying matches which will be held in Kolkata from June 8 onwards.
India has been clubbed in Group D along with Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Cambodia.
Pertinent to mention that Danish Farooq played in Indian Super League (ISL) for this season for Bengaluru FC and has impressed the Indian National football team coach with his all-round performance.
