Kashmir Knights clinches title, beats Shining Star Pampore in a thriller

Pattan, Nov 28: Kashmir Knights won the final by defeating Shining Star Pampore in the nail-biting contest to clinch the title of Mirgund knockout Cricket Tournament played here at Mirgund.
 Skipper Shining Star Pampore Muzaffar Waqar while winning the toss and without any hesitation opted to bat first.
 The decision proved favorable to their team, as the opening duo of Imtiyaz Lefty and Gowhar Khanday scored 98 for the first wicket partnership.
 Kashmir Knights captain Bhat Showket while striking twice in his fourth over and removed dangerous Imtiyaz Lefty and Umar lefty.
 Imtiyaz lefty was the first to depart, after scoring 59 runs off 44 balls. Umar Lefty was sent back to the hut for a golden duck. On the other end, Gowhar Khanday, was hitting the ball cleanly and contributed 63 runs before he was rattled by Gowhar Leggy. On the next ball Gowhar removed Nazir Tiger and completed his hatrick by picking up the wicket of Yaseen.
 In the alloted 20 overs, Shining star Pampore managed to score 170 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. For Kashmir Knights Gowhar Leggy took 3 wickets. Skipper Bhat Showkat and Bilal Pandiya took 2 wickets each. 
Chasing the target of 171 runs, Kashmir Knights openers started the proceedings with all guns blazing. Asif Rasool and skipper showkat set the stage on fire. Asif Rasool was the first to go, when Kashmir Knights were 98 runs on the board. Asif Rasool scored 38 runs. Captain Showket scored match winning 80 runs with 12 fours and hit a gigantic six.
Towseef chipped in with 34 runs off 18 balls. Kashmir knights chased down the target in 20th over of an inning. Captain Bhat Showket was declared as man of the match as well as player of the Tournament.
 At the conclusion of the tournament, the Winner team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and winner’s trophy whereas the runner up team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.20,000/- and a trophy.
 Earlier 28 cricket teams across the valley participated in this Knockout tournament.
