Kupwara, June 19: Director-General Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Saturday said nurseries in Karnah sub-division will be covered under backyard plantation programme of the department in the coming season.
The DG, who is on three-day visit to frontier district of Kupwara, extensively toured Karnah sub-division.
He also chaired a meeting at Fruit Plant Nursery Dringla. The meeting was attended by DDC Member Advocate Najma Hameed, Chief Horticulture Officer Kupwara, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Karnah Gulzar Ahmad, Member Kissan Development Board Peerzada Siraj Ahmad, and many progressive farmers of the area.
He also listened to the grievances of the farmers and assured them of all possible help in addressing their issues.
Regarding deficiency of staff in the area, Bhat assured that the matter will taken up with administrative department and will be solved soon.
For the development of the area, the Director-General said new fruit plant varieties particularly walnut, pear, citrus etc will be introduced and propagated at the nursery.
He stressed upon the field officers to keep close liaison with orchardists and work for the development of the area.
