Kapil Moreshwar Patil to lead IDY Celebrations at SKICC

Srinagar, June 18: Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil will be leading the celebrations of 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st of June at SKICC on the banks of the world-famous Dal Lake.
The theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga across the globe, is ‘Yoga for Humanity’, as announced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his latest Mann ki Baat address.
The Prime Minister will lead the IDY 2022 celebrations from the Mysuru Palace Grounds on June 21. Nearly fifteen thousand yoga enthusiasts will perform yoga, and the event will be organized with the support of members of parliament, departments, ministers, dignitaries, revered yoga gurus, and institutions.
At all iconic sites, the LED screens shall be set up for live streaming to telecast Hon’ble Prime Minister’s message.
In Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh, I/c Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, PG, Atomic Energy, Space, shall lead IDY celebrations at Suchetgarh border in Jammu.
Kapil Moreshwar Patil, MoS Panchayati Raj will be the chief guest at SKICC Dal Lake Srinagar in Kashmir.
Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, MoS (Health & Family Welfare) will lead IDY from Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag district.
In Ladakh, Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra, MoS (Home Affairs) will lead IDY celebrations at Kargil.
All the 11 venues are among 75 iconic and heritage sites in the country.
This year IDY 2022 on 21st June 2022 is being celebrated across world in a grand manner as a whole government approach completely embedding it with the ongoing AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV celebrations.
Thousands of youths and others from all segments of society, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Youth Clubs, Community based civic organisations, Members of Self-Help groups, NCC, NSS, Rangers & Rovers and common people will participate in the IDY celebrations at all the four sites in Himachal Pradesh.
Yoga experts from designated agency “Art of Living” and Department of AYUSH besides several private Yoga and other institutions, shall lead the participants to perform yoga early morning at all the venues in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana & UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
The respective district administrations have made adequate arrangements of transportation for the convenience and ensuring timely arrival of participants’ buses and other means of transportation.
Refreshment & T-shirts are being provided to all participants and organisers besides safe drinking water and power supply arrangements for conducting the event have been put in place.
Traffic and law & order, Medical Aid, fire Service are also being managed at all the venues.
Pertinently, Union AYUSH Minister Shri SarbanandSonowal said that the upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY) won’t just mark a day in the calendar of cultural events, but it will mark a revolution in the way we perceive and approach health and well-being.
Addressing media persons in New Delhi the Minister informed that the preparations to commemorate the IDY are in full swing. He further said that through this day, we aim to accelerate the adoption of the traditional practice and remind the world of its benefits for the mind, body, and soul.
The Ayush Minister informed that this year’s theme considers the geopolitical dilemmas being faced by the world and seeks to help everyone channel their altruistic and empathetic selves.
The Ayush Minister further informed that falling in the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the International Day of Yoga will be observed around 75 iconic locations in the country.
He also said that the day would also witness the innovative ‘Guardian Ring’ program, which will see the streaming of all the events being organized by Indian missions abroad, beginning from the eastern part of the globe and heading towards the west along with the Sun’s movement across 16 time zones. Around 80 countries will participate in the unique ‘relay’ program.
