Srinagar, April 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC), on Wednesday held number of sports competitions in many sports disciplines across J&K under the banner "My Youth My Pride".
As per the JKSC official, the day started with a Panchayat level cycling competition held in district Budgam.
The cycling competition started in the wee hours of the day from railway station Ompora, Budgam to Sports Stadium Budgam.
Station House Officer (SHO) flagged off the race and distributed prizes among the 50 participants.
Parvez Mir of Safavi Memorial School, Mir Gund secured first position while Aashiq stood second and Shoaib Akhtar of Spring Buds School secured third position in the competition respectively.
Similarly, a panchayat level competition in the discipline of Pencak Silat was held at the Indoor stadium Budgam in which more than 100 participants took part.
Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports council Nuzhat Farooq presided over the function as chief guest along with Manager, Budgam Stadium Altaf Ahmad besides Manager Indoor Stadium Polo ground Srinagar was also present in the function.
In the ongoing Spring Shield T20 Cricket Tournament, being conducted at Nanil sports stadium, Anantnag.
The first match of the day was played between FCC Aung and Seer Eleven. Seer Eleven, after winning the toss elected to bat and scored 168 for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and bundled opponents for 122 runs only.
Player of match was awarded to Shakir Zahoor for his all-round performance, for scoring 60 runs and claiming one wicket.
Meanwhile, activities under the banner My Youth My Pride were also held in Jammu in the disciplines of Carom, Chess, and Cricket were organized to inculcate the Sportsmen’s spirit and values.
Sudershan Singh DDC Chairman was the chief guest, Jatinder Singh Sarpanch was the guest of honor and Jagdeep Singh Panch was the special guest.
Around about 150 players participated from different Panchayats to showcase their talent.
In cricket Guraha Slathia Club lost by 30 runs from Samba club as Anvi played 53 not out winning runs whereas Avni slathia a nine-year- girl, earned first position and second position went to Divya Salathia in chess.
In Carrom, Aradhya Slathia won the close context from Gokal by a margin of 3-0 games.
Atul Gupta President of Chess Association J&K appreciated Sports Council’s initiative for rural youth development.
Divisional Sports Officer Jammu in his welcome speech presented the values of sports in day to day to lives.
He also appreciated the contributions of Birpartap Singh and the team of counseling and guiding cells, established for youth development at Guraha Slathia.
Among other prominent were Satish Gupta, Baljinder Pal Singh Randhir Singh, Rahul Pathnia, Manjeet Singh Asad, and a large number of players and the public.
In the Knockout Football Tournament under My Youth MyPride played at Sports Stadium Anantnag between SCFA Pampore and KIC ANANTNAG ended 4-0 in favor of SCFA Pampore.
Furqan of SCFA Pampore Pulwama was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant play.
The events are being organized under the J&K Sports Council under special activities 2022.
