JK Curling Association all set for 2nd national event

Srinagar, Dec 27: JK Curling Association on Tuesday held its executive body meeting here in order to finalize the 2nd national event to be conducted from January 4 to 8, 2023, at Ice-Skating Rink in Gulmarg.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Showkat Rasool, General Secretary of the JK Curling Association welcomed the association’s president Mr. M. Ashraf Dijoo, and all the executive members. He put forward the activity plan for 2022-2023 which was discussed thoroughly and passed.
“Last year, we conducted the 1st National Curling Championship at Gulmarg with the participation of 18 States in which J&K State got 1st position,” Mr. Showkat said, adding, “This year we have selected the boys and girls from 6 to 7 districts of the valley.”
Mr. Ashraf Dijoo in his speech hailed the efforts of Dr. Reshmi Saluja, president Curling Federation of India, and CEO Mr. Arshad for introducing and conducting such an Olympic Sports here for the 1st time at Ice-Skating Rink Gulmarg in collaboration with JKCA, JKTDC, and other stakeholders successfully.
Mr. Dijoo assured that with the support of all concerned, this year the 2nd national will be conducted with great sports enthusiasm. “The federation will continue its support till we achieve the goal in the Olympics,” he said.
All the executive members welcomed the “tremendous efforts” of the federation for the upliftment of the Olympic Sport. In the end, Mr. Showkat Rasool offered a vote of thanks.
