Srinagar, Jan 5: According to a press statement, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank commissioned an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at BU Tangtse in Durbuk –sub-division of the Union Territory of Ladakh today. The bank’s In-charge Zonal Head Tsewang Dorjai inaugurated the first on-site ATM in the presence of Sarpanches of Shashukul and Tangtse, as well as a gathering of the bank customers and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Tsewang Dorjai said that the dedication of ATMs for the public at places like these testifies to the bank’s commitment to make the world-class banking and financial products, services available to people of the region irrespective of their location or status. 

The Sarpanch of Shashukul lauded the Bank, led by its CMD R K Chhibber, for commissioning the ATM thereby fulfilling the long pending demand of the people living in the area which often witnesses sub- zero temperature, making it difficult for the people to visit the bank branch every time to make even simple transactions. He said that the availability of the ATM will provide a big relief to the people of the area.

Those present on the occasion hailed the bank’s efforts in providing them technology-based banking services at the nearest possible location, the statement further said.

The statement added that with the commissioning of this ATM, the number of such machines in UT Ladakh has reached 49.
