J&K bags 5 Gold, 6 Silver, 7 Bronze medals

Jammu, Dec 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Grappling team have bagged five gold, six silver and seven bronze medals in the 14th Grappling National Championships held in Shirdi, Maharashtra.

 

 Around 1200 players across India have participated in the event of which 30 players were from Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

 The three-day- event organised by Grappling Association of Maharashtra

 

started from December 24 and lasted till December 26.

 As per the final day results, J&K team have won five gold, six silver and seven bronze medals in different age groups in sub-junior, junior and senior in boys categories in the event.

 

 Saifullah has bagged gold while excelling in GI Grappling under-13 age group by winning the final in 45 kg weight category. Kamil has bagged gold in the under-11 age group in the 45 kg weight category.

 

 Both these gold winners belong to Kashmir and three other gold medalists are from the Jammu division.

 

 President Grappling Association Jammu Vikram Singh and General Secretary Guljinder Singh have applauded all medalists on behalf of the Grappling Association of J&K. 

 

 While talking to Rising Kashmir General Secretary Grappling Association J&K, Kashmir Division Ruhail Haroon said winning 18 medals is a big achievement for the whole J&K and they are dedicated to promoting this game in J&K.

 

 “The district Budgam grappling championship held at Indoor Stadium earlier this year was an attempt in this direction,” he said.
