Inspires students for India's 2047 developed nation aspiration at IIM Jammu
Jammu, Apr 29: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu hosted an insightful guest lecture by Sanjay Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), at the Mandapam Auditorium, where he inspired students to emerge as visionary leaders in realising India's aspiration of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Jain was accorded a warm welcome by IIM Jammu Director Prof B.S. Sahay in the presence of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu Region Chairman Rakesh Wazir, Group General Manager North Zone Naveen Dixit, Chief Program Officer Arup Bhattacharya, faculty, officers, and students.
Before the lecture, Jain was taken on a comprehensive tour of the IIM Jammu campus, including the Program Office, Nalanda Library, smart classrooms, and the Mandapam Auditorium. Impressed by the world-class infrastructure, he lauded the Institute's commitment to excellence and innovation.
In his address, Jain chronicled IRCTC's extraordinary 25-year journey as a trailblazer in digital transformation, demonstrating how the organisation has redefined customer experiences while managing operations at an unprecedented scale. He spoke extensively about IRCTC's rapid digitalisation, seamless ticketing ecosystem, integration of artificial intelligence, innovative payment solutions, and its exceptional market performance since its landmark IPO in 2019.
He underscored how IRCTC has emerged as one of India's most admired and best-performing public sector enterprises, setting new benchmarks in service excellence, innovation, and value creation. He extended an invitation to IIM Jammu for collaborative initiatives and encouraged students to visit IRCTC for first-hand exposure to its real-time operations.
Prof B.S. Sahay chronicled IIM Jammu's remarkable journey since its inception in 2016, highlighting its meteoric ascent as one of the world's fastest-growing management institutions with over 1,300 students. He underscored the Institute's strategic collaborations with IIT Jammu, AIIMS Jammu, and international institutions, alongside its prestigious global accreditations.
Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty & Research, lauded IRCTC for revolutionising India's travel, tourism, and hospitality ecosystem, while Prof Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, reflected on India's economic transformation, drawing parallels with IRCTC's journey.
The session culminated in an engaging question-and-answer session where students interacted with Jain on leadership, public sector management, digital innovation, and emerging opportunities. The vote of thanks was proposed by Chief Program Officer Arup Bhattacharya.
