Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a bladder condition that causes recurring discomfort or pain in the bladder or the surrounding pelvic region. Inflammation or irritation of the bladder walls in people with IC can cause scarring and stiffening of the bladder. Anyone can be affected by IC, but it is more common in women than in men. Some people have one or more of the following symptoms, while others have none:
Frequent Urination
Urge to urinate often
A feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen or pelvis.
Tenderness in the lower abdomen
Intense discomfort in the bladder or pelvic area.
Lower abdominal pain that becomes more severe as the bladder fills or empties.
