Indus Towers to provide digital literacy course to 50 J&K Police martyrs’ wards

Jammu, Dec 14: Indus Towers Limited, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, in partnership with the Impact Guru Foundation – a not-for-profit education society created to have a positive impact on society – will offer Digital Literacy Lessons to 50 J&K Police martyrs’ wards.
The initiative was inaugurated by the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha as the chief guest along with the guest of honour DGP Dilbag Singh.
“Indus Towers’ Digital Literacy programme is aimed at making beneficiaries digitally literate by equipping them with IT and employability skills that will help them earn a sustainable livelihood,” the foundation said in a statement. “Successful candidates will qualify for entry-level jobs as data managers, secretaries, receptionists, and administrators. The support of connecting the beneficiaries with potential employers for placements will also be offered as part of this course.”
According to the statement, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on the occasion said, “Inaugurated Digital Skill Development programme for the wards of J&K Police Martyrs to generate sustainable livelihood. The government is committed to taking concrete measures for the families of the martyrs so that they may live a life of comfort and dignity. The initiative under CSR by Indus Towers Ltd is a tribute to JKP bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. The welfare of the families of those, who served and protected the country’s integrity & sovereignty, will always be our top priority.”
Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief of Regulatory & CSR, Indus Towers said, “Indus Towers has always believed in taking an active role and responsibility in transforming the lives of communities by improving their socio-economic conditions. We’re grateful to the J&K Police department for providing not only the training facility at the locations but also, the basic amenities of electricity, water, tables and chairs to seamlessly execute the programme. Beneficiaries will not only undergo Digital Training and education, but they will also be exposed to career development skills.”

Education, including digital literacy, is the key to our nation’s future. J&K Police martyrs made the supreme sacrifice and hence, it’s our duty to support their families by giving them the means to earn a dignified and sustainable livelihood.”
Indus Towers programme will become sustainable over the long run by applying a four-pronged strategy which includes: the establishment of the centre in a safe and accessible location as per the guidance from J&K Police Department, the employment of community development workers who would reach out to and recommend deserving beneficiaries, engaging beneficiaries by creating a learning environment conducive to intellectual growth, and enlisting the support of potential employers in granting jobs to those who complete the course.
“Identified candidates are above 18 years of age and have minimum education qualification as class 10th. The classes will be held for 30 days for 6 hours per day,” the foundation said.
