Jammu, Aug 16: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) held a grand function at its RS Pura- Jammu South Constituency Panchayat Chatha here on Tuesday to celebrate the 77th Independence Day under the chairmanship of BSP State General Secretary Darshan Rana.
Rana on the occasion hoisted the national flag. A large number of party workers and office bearers attended the function, the party said in a statement.
In his address, Rana appealed to the people to maintain peace and brotherhood. He recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and paid tributes to jawans who laid down their lives recently on borders and in fighting terrorism.
Sweets were distributed among the people on the occasion. Former district president Tarsem Lal, Tara Chand, Tarsem Karlupia, Rattan Lal, Swaran Lala, Romesh Kumar, Chaman Lal and Raman Kumar also attend the function, the party said.
