Hybrid terrorist arrested from Reasi

Jammu, Sept 15: A hybrid terrorist was arrested from Mahore area of Reasi district on Thursday, police said.

“Acting on specific information received, police raided and arrested a hybrid terrorist Zafar Iqbal son of Karim Baksh of Bal Angralla, Mahore, Reasi, from Plassu Nallah area of the district,” SSP Rajouri, Amit Gupta said.

The SSP added that during questioning, Zaffar Iqbal confessed about his connections with the terror groups and about commission of offence.

On Zaffar's disclosure, a joint team of Reasi police, 58 RR, and 126 Battalion CRPF launched a search operation in Angralla forest area, where the team busted a terrorists hideout.

One pistol, two pistol magazines, three nine mm live rounds, and a grenade (possibly Chinese) were recovered from the hideout, the official said.

Besides, a terror money of Rs 1, 81, 000, meant to be used for further terror activities, was also recovered from the hybrid terrorist, the SSP said.

According to the police officer, the arrested terrorist was in touch in terrorists handlers in Pakistan.

SSP Amit Gupta further revealed that the arrested hybrid terrorist’s brother, Mohammad Ishaq was a Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) terrorist, who was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Rajouri district.

“One of the relatives of the arrested terrorist Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rashid son of Khushi Mohammad, of Ladh, Tehsil Mahore, is still working with various terror groups in Pakistan,” added SSP Gupta.

Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections at police station Mahore.

“Police have added sections 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 2/4 Explosive Act and 17/18/20/23/38 UAPA to a case already registered against the arrested terrorist,” added SSP Rajouri, who termed the arrest and recovery of arms a major success to the security forces.
