BJP leaders condemn Nowgam attack, pay homage to slain cop
Jammu, April 1: Condemning the brutal attack on the house of a BJP leader in Kashmir's Nowgam area, The BJP General Secretary Vibodh Gupta said that the killers of humanity cannot be heroes for anyone.
The BJP leader Anwar Khan was not at his residence on Thursday when the militants carried out the attack while a policeman Rameez Raja guarding him was killed in this attack.
The BJP General Secretary in J&K, Vibodh Gupta, in a statement, expressed pain over this “highly condemnable act” and stressed that exemplary punishment should be ensured to killers.
He conveyed deepest condolences to the family of the martyr and expressed solidarity with them.
Gupta further said that these repeated terror attacks cannot weaken democracy in the region but BJP leaders upholding democracy are becoming soft targets.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata Party General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul condemned the attack on the BJP leader in Nowgam and termed killing of police men as “unfortunate”.
In a statement he said those who attacked Anwar Khan’s residence and killed an innocent cop will not be spared and urged administration and police to provide proper security for prominent leaders of the BJP.
"All BJP leaders of the country stand by the family in this difficult situation. Those who are responsible for the act should be neutralized," he said.
He also demanded party workers should be given proper security, so that “they don’t become easy targets for anti-national elements.”
BJP Kashmir Media Incharge, Manzoor Bhat also prayed for rich tributes to departed souls. Such incidents are unfortunate and it must be stopped, he said.
NC condemns killing of policeman
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday condemned the killing of a policeman Rameez Ahmed in an attack on BJP leader’s house in the outskirts of Srinagar and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family in their hour of grief.
In a statement the Party Vice President Omar Abdullah prayed for peace to the soul of the deceased and expressed unison with the bereaved family on their irreparable loss. He also prayed for the fast recuperation of the injured.
Meanwhile party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also condemned the incident and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
