Srinagar, Mar 19: The beautiful and must visit Badamwari, situated in the heart of the Srinagar city on the banks of Nigeen Lake is presenting a refreshing spring look as hundreds of Almond trees are in full bloom. The serene and picturesque garden will be thrown open for the general public and tourists on March, 21 commensurate with the spring festival of Nauroz.

Director, Tourism Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo on Thursday also inspected the Garden to take stock of the preparations for opening it for the visitors.

Prior to the opening of the garden on March 21, a brief two hour Cultural Programme in the afternoon at 4:00 PM on March 20 is slated to be organized by the tourism Department within the premises of the garden to mark the occasion.

Local population, tourists and government functionaries are expected to participate in the colorful cultural programme.

Traditionally, families would carry a samovar and water chestnuts to the garden and be part of the spring arrival festivities. Over the years that tradition seems to have gradually faded away. However, the Tourism Department is making earnest efforts to revive the local culture associated with Badamwari and the spring arrival celebrations.
