Traffic police Srinagar asks school drivers to desist from using gas kits in their vehicles
Srinagar, Feb 23: In violation of rules, vehicles fitted with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) kits to ferry children to schools are putting the lives of the little ones at risk.
Traffic Police in Summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday directed school ferrying vehicles not to use LPG kits in School vans and said if “anybody is found with an LPG kit in a school van, his vehicle will be seized.”
A letter, accessed by Rising Kashmir, reads, “It has been reported that some school buses, van operators ferrying school children are using LPG Kits in their buses, vans as a modification of usage of petrol and diesel which endangers the life of school-going children. The modification is a violation of the M.V. Act and in such case, the vehicle shall be seized.”
The letter says that the parents, school administration and the school bus, van operators ferrying school-goers are requested to ensure that no such violation takes place.
Meanwhile, DySP traffic Srinagar city Sheikh Adil while talking to Rising Kashmir said that those who are using these LPG gas kits are putting the lives of children at risk. He, however, said that strict action will be taken against those who are found involved.
DySp Adil said that due to these LPG kits several incidents have taken place in the past.
