Snow will be cleared from link roads in 2 days: ADC

Handwara, Jan 07: Amidst four days of major snowfall across the valley, the tall claims of Sub district administration Handwara that they have clea links have fallen flat, residents said.

According to reports, several link roads in the sub district have not been cleared yet causing inconvenience to commuters.

Reports said that areas including Mawer, Rajwar, Magam, Ramhall and adjoining areas are still blocked due to accumulated snow, causing inconvenience to locals, particularly patients who need immediate medical attention.

Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Mawer told Rising Kashmir that his family failed to approach a medico yesterday as all link roads were disconnected due to snowfall.

He added, “Our elderly family member was in dire need to get medical checkup but despite trying our best to visit the destination we could not”.

He said that there is no doubt authorities have cleared main roads but how could one reach to their respective destination when interiors are yet occupied by snow.

The locals appealed authorities to clear the link roads in these areas so that people do not suffer.

They further said that the water pipeline damaged in several areas have not been repaired yet due to which residents are forced to fetch the drinking water from nearby streams in unfavorable weather.

They appealed authorities to direct the concerned departments to clear the link roads and restore other essential services in these areas.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Nazir Ahmad Mir told Rising Kashmir that main roads have been cleared first and men and machinery have been pressed to clear the all link roads.

"In coming two days all links roads will be cleared", Mir said.

Mir further said that electricity has been restored almost in every village and Jal Shakti Department has been pressed to restore the water supply as soon as possible.
