Elderly woman among five injured in Kupwara road accident

Kupwara, Jan 07: At least five persons were injured in a road accident at  Batergam village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon when a vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle.

According to reports a  passenger vehicle (Tavera JK05A 4253) on way from Awoora to Kupwara while reaching at Batergam met an accident due to accumulation of snow on the road resulting into injuries to five persons.

The injured persons have been identified as Bagu Khatana wife of Misri Bajard Khatana  (81), Mohd Musharaf Khan, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan resident of Awoora, Tahir Rasool (26), son of Gh Rasool, Ashma Begum, wife of Tahir Rasool resident of Mawar Handwara and Saifdin Khatana son of Suliman Khatana of Munwan Awoora.

Soon after the incident all the injured persons were moved to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara for treatment where on duty doctors referred Bagu Khatana to SKIMS for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, a police officer also confirmed the accident and said a case under Fir No 04/2021 under section 279,370 has been registered at Police station Kupwara and investigation has been set into motion.
