Residents of Budgam villages irked with frequent power outages
Electricity will be restored after clearance of snow from roads: Official
Budgam, Jan 05: Following heavy snowfall over the past two days, the several villages in center Kashmir’s Budgam are reeling under darkness, locals said.
The villages including Daharmuna, Pymus, Sungum, Garand, Check Kaloosa, Gotpora, Bopat, Gampora, Banit, Saihama, Sitharankhag Kuthbal and Rithan are without electricity, locals from th se areas said.
People from several areas of Budgam complained to Rising Kashmir that 90% of power supply is still off in Budgam areas.
A local resident of Sitharan Khag told Rising Kashmir that volunteers are erecting poles but they are falling due to heavy snowfall.
"We pay a fee to the department, for what purpose? They have failed to provide electricity in such harsh winters when people need it most. The department has failed to restore the power supply to the areas," he said.
Another resident told Rising Kashmir “our electric poles are lying still on the ground and the electric wire has been stolen and there seems to be no sign of electric restoration in the area."
While as Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has urged the District administration Budgam that power supply in rural areas of the district has been hit badly due to recent snowfall adding that the administration should press into service it’s entire men and machinery to restore the system on emergency basis.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer Narbal Circle, Bopinder Singh, told Rising Kashmir that they have already sent lineman for the clearness of snow. "After the clearness of snow from the roads, electricity will be restored in the areas," he said.
