LAWDA seals under-construction structure in Gagribal, again
Srinagar, Nov 11: According a statement
issued to the press, the Enforcement Wing of the Lakes and Waterways Development
Authority (LAWDA) today sealed an under construction structure in Gagribal area
of the city for the second time. The said structure had been demolished once
before as well, but construction had been started on it again.
LAWDA sealed the structure which was being raised in violation of norms and rules for the second time today. After demolishing the structure the first time, the renewed construction at the site was reported again and it was sealed this time. The Vice Chairman, LAWDA was also accompanying the Enforcement Wing and the structure was sealed in his presence this time.
Meanwhile, a demolition/ anti-encroachment drive launched by the Enforcement Wing of the LAWDA has been going on for the last two days under the supervision of the Vice Chairman and the Enforcement Officerof LAWDA.
The statement further said that during the drive,a number of illegally raised constructions have been demolished and encroachments removed in the areas of Harwan, Shalimar, Rainawari, Dalgate, Saderbal and Lone MohallaNowpora.The structures include nine single-storeyed building, four double-storeyed structures and four plinths. One structure has also been sealed in the area of Buchwara,Dalgate.
Vice Chairman LAWDA, in his message has warned those elements of the society who construct and abet such constructions that they will be dealt with strictly and FIRs will be registered against them for such violations. He also said that after receiving reports about these illegal constructions and encroachments, the Enforcement Wing of LAWDA immediately swung into action and launched a demolition drive in and around the lakes.
He said that scores of such encroachments have alreadybeen removed and the drive would continue with fully intensity and rigour.
According to the statement, all the people residing within the LAWDA jurisdiction have been directed to not go for any sort of illegal constructions/encroachments, as the Enforcement Wing will continue with demolition of illegal constructions.
Moreover, the tipper/load carrier owners have also been directed not toferry construction materials in the areas of Dal and Nigeen Lake where such constructions are not allowed without permission.
