Accord permission for importing wheat harvest machines: Choudhary
The national President of Kisan Welfare Organisation Rohit Choudhary in a written communication has approached Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu and sought government permission to import combine crop harvesting machines so that farmers can procure these machines from neighbouring state Punjab .
Choudhary stated that the wheat crop is almost ready for harvest and if the harvesting machines do not reach Jammu in time , the harvest shall get delayed incurring heavy losses to the farmers and their farming investments and astronomical practices incurred will go waste .
Choudhary also demanded compensation and financial help for the farmers for crop harvesting in these pressing times enabling the farmers to complete their harvesting operations in time .
Choudhary reminded that wheat harvesting starts on the eve of Baisakhi festival but expressed deep concern that lockdown on account of Covid-19 pandemic is hampering the harvest this time and delaying procurement of harvesting machines due to govt laid restrictions and a situation which is beyond the control of farmers .
He urged upon the govt to accord top priority to this problem of farmers and take immediate decision for importing harvesting machines to Jammu enabling the farmers to complete their crop harvesting operations smoothly and well in time .
