Health dept establishes control room to oversee G20 Summit-related health arrangements

Srinagar, May 16: The Health Department Kashmir has set up a 24/7 divisional level control room to oversee and monitor the health arrangements and overall preparedness.
Spokesperson, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said the department is fully ready to provide healthcare facilities to the delegates of G20 Summit.
“The 24/7 control room has been set up by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir at Chief Medical Office Srinagar, Old Secretariat. This will monitor all the health care related activities and arrangements of the G20 events across the valley,” he said.
Mushtaq said the department has made all arrangements for important locations like SKIMS Soura, GMC Srinagar, Kashmir Nursing Home, Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, SKICC, Taj Vivanta, Lalit, upgradation of facilities enroute to Gulmarg and other places.
“We have already established special clinics at the important spots and doctors have been trained in basic life support and drugs have been procured for events,” he said.
The spokesperson said that all the necessary equipment have been put in place at multi places where ever there is requirement of the same to meet any kind of eventuality.
“Essential drugs have been made available at multiple spots and emergency ambulances have been put ready and checked whether these are functioning well or not,” he said.
Notably, as part of the G20 Summit, face lifting of hospitals on the 47-kilometer Srinagar-Gulmarg highway has been done. The hospitals include Sub District Hospital Magam, SDG Tangmarg and Primary Health Centre, Gulmarg.
“These hospitals have been upgraded and got the latest equipment along with state-of-art sanitation facilities and availability of medicines,” he said.
Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, who is also the Nodal Officer for Health for G20 Summit meet Kashmir, said the department is prepared all the arrangements have been made for a successful summit.
Earlier, the department had directed all the officers and officials to be deputed for G 20 Summit and shall be trained in BLS and ALS for which trainings have been held at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan.
Health officials said with G20 Summit the department making every possible effort before the arrival of dignitaries from participating nations.
“We will make sure to provide best possible healthcare facilities in place for the visiting dignitaries. We are aiming to provide world-class medical care that meets the highest international standards,” officials said.
Earlier, in March as part of preparations for this year's G20 Summit events, the Health Department Kashmir conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at the Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport.
Officials said the Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder Kumar and Director Health Services Kashmir have been taking regular meetings to discuss the measures being put in place at all the venue sites.
As the preparations for the G20 summit continue, the focus on providing the best possible healthcare facilities highlights the importance of prioritizing the health and well-being of everyone involved, from the visiting dignitaries to the local people.
