Srinagar, Jan 06: Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Friday issued instructions to all Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers to gear up the resources in view of the Meteorological Department prediction.
In a circular issued on Friday, the DHSK directed all CMOs /Medical Superintendents and BMOs to mobilize and gear up all the resources in terms of doctors, paramedics, availability of drugs in sufficient quantity and readiness of fleet of ambulances.
“Ensure power backup, set up Control Rooms at district and sub-district hospitals and heating arrangements in all hospitals across the valley so that patients are managed properly and timely,” the circular said.
They have been also directed to avoid referral of patients to tertiary care hospitals especially when all the roads remain cut off during the snow.
“They will ensure that the border/hard-to-reach areas, which may remain cut off during winters have adequate medicines, emergency drugs, oxygen cylinders, placing of curtains on doors, covering of windows with polythene wherever needed to keep hospitals warm,” it said.
The DHSK has directed all CMOs, Medical Superintendents, BMOs, doctors, medical officers, consultants and paramedical staff to remain stationed at their present place of postings during snowfall. “Any deviation from the circular instructions shall invite disciplinary action under rules,” the circular said. The move comes as the Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall between Jan 8 to 10 in Kashmir.
