Health arrangements finalized ahead of G20 Summit events: Secretary Health

Secretary, Director takes round of facilities created for the purpose in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 20: Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has finalized all the healthcare arrangements in hospitals and at all the designated venues of the G20 Summit events, health officials said.
As the preparations for the G20 summit continue, the focus on providing the best possible healthcare facilities highlights the importance of prioritizing the health and well-being of everyone involved, from the visiting dignitaries to the local people.
On Saturday, Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder along with Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather took a round of facilities and visited several venues to take a review of the healthcare facilities.
Kumar told Rising Kashmir that they are keeping the health facilities ready wherever there is a need of the same ahead of the G20 Summit.
“We have put all the healthcare arrangements in place and the department is fully geared up to provide healthcare facilities to the delegates of G20 Summit,” he said.
“We have made teams for all locations and deployed people with the required qualifications and they have been briefed about their roles and responsibilities,” Kumar said.
All required equipment, drugs and essentials have been made available in hospitals and venues every health-related arrangement has been made. “All the preparations are ready and everything is in place at all the venues,” he said.
Apart from the health care arrangements, the Administrative Secretary, said the health department has also made arrangements for Yoga at the venues for the G20 delegates.
The department has made all arrangements for important locations like SKIMS Soura, GMC Srinagar, Kashmir Nursing Home, Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, SKICC, Taj Vivanta, Lalit, upgradation of facilities enroute to Gulmarg and other places.
The Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department and Director Health Services Kashmir have been taking regular meetings to discuss the measures being put in place at all the venue sites.
Spokesperson, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said the department is fully ready to provide healthcare facilities to the delegates of G20 Summit.
“Special arrangements have been made at various spots like Srinagar airport, SKICC, enroute to Gulmarg and other places. Special clinics have been established while doctors have been trained in basic life support and drugs have been procured for events,” he said.
The Directorate has already set up a 24/7 divisional-level control room at Chief Medical Office Srinagar, Old Secretariat to oversee health arrangements and overall preparedness.
The directorate has also constituted a team of doctors that has been tasked to superhead the healthcare arrangements at several spots ahead of the G20 Summit events. The doctors and sub-teams will work 24/7 for smooth healthcare arrangements.
As part of the G20 Summit, Mushtaq said face lifting of hospitals on the 47-kilometer Srinagar-Gulmarg highway has been done. The hospitals that have been upgraded include Sub District Hospital Magam, SDG Tangmarg and Primary Health Centre, Gulmarg.
“These hospitals on the highway have been upgraded and beautified. The hospitals have got latest equipment along with state-of-art sanitation facilities and availability of medicines,” he said.
The spokesperson said that x-rays facilities, ECG have been upgraded in the hospitals while special beds have been also kept available and oxygen facilities are also available.
The department has directed that all the officers and officials to be deputed for G 20 Summit shall be trained in BLS and ALS for which trainings have been held at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan and other hospitals as well.
Officials said the upcoming G20 Summit is certainly helping the health department get a makeover as the administration is making every possible effort before the arrival of dignitaries from participating nations.
Earlier, in March as part of preparations for this year's G20 Summit events, the Health Department Kashmir conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport.
“We want to make sure that we have the best possible healthcare facilities in place for the visiting dignitaries. We are aiming to provide world-class medical care that meets the highest international standards,” the spokesperson said.
