Srinagar, Nov 08: Gurpurab, the 553rd birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Devji, was celebrated on Tuesday with religious fervour and enthusiasm across Kashmir.
The functions were held at Shaheed Bunga Gurudwara, Barzulla, and Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi at Rainawari.
Braving the cold weather, worshippers flocked to the city's Gurdwaras to attend special prayers and sermons and paid obeisance at Gurdwaras.
The main function was held at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi in the Rainawari area of old Srinagar city, while Amira Kadal and Jawahar Nagar Gurdwaras also witnessed heavy rush of devotees.
Many religious and social organizations had arranged "langars" for the devotees at these Gurdwaras.
Devotees expressed their happiness with the arrangements made by the authorities for the festival.

There are various testimonies and artifacts that confirm the historical lineage of Gurudwara in Leh, Bijbehara, and Ramnagar, as well as many other parts of the Union Territory that are associated with his visit.
