Srinagar, Sept 08: In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued an order to establish a Technical Appraisal Committee (TAC) for the ambitious project titled "Installation of CCTV Surveillance in Police Stations and Police Posts across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir."
As per the directive issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Friday, this decision falls under the purview of S.O 227 of 2021, dated July 9,2021, issued by the Finance Department. The TAC will play a crucial role in evaluating and overseeing the implementation of this vital surveillance project, comprising four members, including a Chairman.
Mohamed Saleem Khan, State Informatics Officer from NIC, J&K, has been appointed as the Chairman of this committee. Other members include Anil Gupta, Director of the Centre of IT Enabled Services and Management at the University of Jammu, a representative of NIELIT (to be nominated by the Director Incharge, NIELET, J&K), and Rajeev Gupta, Technical Officer from the IT Department.
The committee's primary responsibilities will include a thorough technical examination of the project documentation and providing recommendations to the department responsible for its implementation. Additionally, the TAC will offer insights into the feasibility of proposed solutions and estimated costs.
The order also emphasizes the committee's strict adherence to all government rules, procedures, and guidelines during the vetting process. The TAC is expected to submit its comprehensive report within seven days from the date of this order to the department responsible for the project. The General Administration Department and the IT Department will also be kept informed of the progress.
