Srinagar, Mar 24: In response to the shortage of public transportation in the evening, the Regional Transport Corporation has launched a night bus service in Srinagar. As of today, SRTC buses will remain available to the general public until late at night. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V.K. Bidhuri, on March 23, 2023.

According to an official, the SRTC buses will be available until 10 PM from 2 PM onwards. The Regional Transport Officer for Srinagar has directed the SRTC department to make bus services available on the Chadoora-Soura route until 9 PM and the Parimpora-Harwan route until 10 PM.

The SRTC will operate a fleet of fourteen buses on the Chadoora-Soura route from 8 AM to 9 PM, with ten buses in two shifts plying from Chadoora to Soura via Wathoora, Kralpora, Mouchwa, BagiMehtab, Chanapora, Natipora, Rambagh, Solina, Jahangir Chowk, Batamaloo, Qamarwari, Cement Bridge, Ali Jan Road, and Soura. On the Parimpora-Harwan route, four buses will operate from 5 PM to 10 PM, with a time interval of 15 minutes. The buses will ply from Parimpora to Harwan via Batmaloo, Jahangir Chowk, Lal Chowk, Dalgate, Brien, Syed Rehman Sahib Nishat Bagh, Gupt Ganga SKUAST, Shalimar Bagh, Pazwalpora, Shalimar, Arabal, and Chandpora, Harwan, and back via the same route.
The RTO has instructed the SRTC to display route plate numbers 4 and 1 prominently on the buses plying on these routes. The residents of Srinagar have welcomed the decision, and they hope that the service will continue and not disappear after a few days.

It is noteworthy that on March 23, 2023, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri convened a meeting of officers to plan the induction of SRTC Bus for night transport services.
