Got vital  leads in Baramulla cop‘s killing: DGP Swain 

‘Vows to bring perpetrators to justice in Baramulla murder’ Visits family of head constable to express solidarity

Srinagar, Nov 04: Director General of Police J&K, R.R Swain on Saturday said the police has got significant leads into the targeted killing of a policeman in Baramulla, saying “they will identify the killer and all those who supported him in any way and bring them to justice”.
Addressing the mediapersons in Wailoo, Kralpora in Baramulla after visiting the home of slain head constable Ghulam Mohammd Dar, who was killed on October 31 outside his house, the DGP said police have got leads in the case and investigation is going on and perpetrators would be brought to justice very soon.
Regarding police investigation, DGP R.R Swain said that investigation into Dar's killing is underway and details cannot be shared.
“We have vowed to reach to the bottom of the matter and identify the killer and all those who supported him in anyway and bring them to justice,” he said adding “we have lost a member of our Police parivar,  nobleman, a father, a brother, and a citizen of Kashmir”.
DGP R.R Swain said that handlers from across the borders are not sending money here to build hospitals, roads and other things but to support terrorism and disturb peace here.
He said starting this winter, the police will launch a strategy to create such a situation in Jammu and Kashmir where no one will be ready to support terrorists and their handlers across the border.
Regarding the situation, DGP R.R Swain said that Pakistani land is not under our control and they send people, arms and ammunition or narcotics here. “They are not sending money to build hospitals, schools or roads. But we will be successful in foiling their attempts when no one here will be ready to support them,” he added.
"We will be able to foil their plans only when no one here supports them, adding that we are working to create that atmosphere", the DGP said. He said that anyone here or from across the border providing any support to terror activities would be brought to justice.
He was accompanied by ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Vivek Gupta, and SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure, the DGP met the family members of the martyr and expressed his heartfelt condolence on behalf of J&K Police.
Meanwhile, the DGP expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and assured all help from the Police department. He assured that whole Police Pariwar is with the bereaved family and assured them all possible support.
DGP visited Police Station, Pattan where he reviewed the functioning of the Police station and also checked the details of crime records.
Interacting with the jurisdictional Police personnel, the DGP stressed for adopting comprehensive counter measures to tackle terror crime incidents adding that protecting the lives of people is our utmost responsibility. He stressed for augmenting the security in vulnerable places to prevent unfortunate incidents.
He directed the officers to further strengthen the communication within the ranks and augment the security grids in their respective areas for the safety and security of the people.
DGP R.R Swain that all suspicious elements providing any kind of support to terrorist activities should be kept under radar to foil their attempts. Stringent action should be taken against the elements found involved in anti-peace activities, he added.
