Anantnag, Dec 20: Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir Tuesday addressed a booth level delegates’ convention at Nagam in Kokernag area of Anantnag district and urged the party delegates to actively involve themselves in resolution of people issues, at grass roots.
The former JKPCC chief emphasized over strengthening the Party at booth level despite alleged challenges and conspiracies being hatched against Congress.
Referring to the political scenario in J&K, Mir told the delegates that people not only in J&K but in the entire country know that J&K was the victims of BJP’s deceitful and misleading politics which has abandoned it(J&K) of its democratic rights, besides down -grading the state into two UTS.
He said it was for the first time in the history of India that full-fledged state was downgraded into two UTs whilst the UTs consisting of two three districts in the country were made full-fledged State to ensure Legislature and elected Govt of their own.
Former minister slammed Centre Govt for making false and tall claims with regard to resolution of people issues, employment generation and development which, according to him, is nowhere to be seen, though there has been series of initiatives such as back B2v, frequent visits of Central Ministers and countless announcements.
Former JKPCC President reiterated Congress Party’s demand for holding of assembly elections in J&K following Statehood with all constitutional guarantees.
Earlier Mir received feedback with regard to local developmental and social issues confronting people at grass roots.
According to a party statement, Mir was informed that people were suffering due to lack of development and in absence of the appropriate supply of electricity and drinking water in Nagam and elsewhere in the Kokernag area of South Kashmir.
